Bangor in North Wales in one of the smallest cities in the UK with most of the population being students at the University of Wales. The city allegedly has the longest high street in Wales and its name is Welsh for a fenced in enclosure. This is in reference to an enclosure that was originally on the site of Bangor Cathedral which has one of the oldest bishoprics or Episcopal Areas in the UK. Bangor mountain is proximate to the city and casts its shadow on the high street. The North Wales Path lies to the east of the city and the coastline is an added attraction. The River Adda and river Cegin are within the citys boundaries, the latter enters Port Penrhyn which was an important 19th Century port for the export of slates. The Garth Pier in Bangor is a grade II listed structure and is the ninth longest in Britain, second longest in Wales. Bangor City FC is the citys most prominent sports club and has had success in European competition on occasion
