Local Information

Hereford is in the west of England, close to the Welsh border, and gets its name from the Anglo-Saxon word here meaning army and ford referring to a point at a river where soldiers can cross in formation. In this case, the river concerned was the Wye. The event which originated in the 18th Century is one of the oldest music festivals in Europe and is held in Hereford once every three years
