The Norfolk Broads National Park consists of over 200km of inland waterways without a lock to be seen. There are shallow lakes managed as nature reserves and fens where Britain's rarest bird, the bittern, can sometimes be heard. The banks of the rivers are dotted with charming villages, towns for shopping, woodland, grazing marshes and of course fishermen. Nature trails wind their way to bird hides where Kingfishers, waders, ducks, geese and rarer visitors perform for visitors.

There are opportunities for all sorts of boating experiences. Hire a 2 or 12 berth cruiser or yacht for a week, or take one of the many organised boat trips starting from most of the larger broads. You can recline on an Edwardian style Electric Eel from How Hill and visit more inaccessible parts of the broads. An Electric Ferry operates from Ranworth staithe and explores the wildlife of Malthouse Broad or you could try a solar powered boat. You will be spoilt for choice
Cruise down the Rivers River Ant, River Bure, River Chet, River Thurne, River Waveney, River Wensum, River Yare and on the multitude of the Broads, including the Tidal Breydon Water.
Visit Acle and watch the boats navigate the ancient low bridge and walk around the marina. Admire the thatched cottages in Horning and relax in a waterside pub or restaurant. Ranworth village church has an illuminated antiphoner dating from 1478, and ancient rood screen. If you have a head for heights you can climb up the church tower to look down on the landscape below. Great Yarmouth is fun for all the family with its amusement arcades, retail therapy and evening entertainments. Don't forget to try the delicious fish and chips, Cromer crabs and dishes of seasonal oysters. Further south, Bungay has a castle built in 1165, antique and specialist shops and a market.
