Dundee is the fourth largest city in Scotland and is near the east coast of the country. Located on the north bank of the River Tays estuary it is also near the North Sea. The city has a colourful history and development during the Industrial Revolution gave the city its epithet as the city of jam, jute and journalism. This was in reference to its marmalade and jute industry at the time along with the citys reputation for journalism. More recently, Dundees biomedical and technological industries have thrived and it now accounts for 10 percent of Britains digital entertainment industry. A perhaps less impressive claim is that Dundee is the home of William McGonagall, widely considered to be the worlds worst poet. Dundee also developed a shipping industry in the 19th century and built the RRS Discovery, the Antarctic research ship used by Robert Falcon Scott. It can now be seen at Discovery Point, the Victorian steel-framed works that the ships engine was built in is now Dundees largest bookstore. The city surrounds the basalt plug of Dundee law an extinct volcano. Dundee is a culturally diverse city and this is reflected in the variety of pllces of worship. There are two cathedrals in the city, several city churches, a Hindu mandir, a large mosque for the Muslim community and a Sikh grudwara. Dundee also often serves as a comfortable base for tourists to visit the more rural surrounding areas of Perth, Angus and Kincross
